I was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. I moved to Pittsburgh in 2010 for my job with my husband, Marlon. I have a 32 year old daughter from a previous marriage, Kathleen (who goes by Katt), who lives in Syracuse with her partners. Marlon raised Katt and officially adopted her in February 2021. Marlon and I enjoyed riding Harley’s, traveling, concerts and tattoos. Marlon played bass (he was a lefty). We both love animals, especially cats and rescued many cats over the years. I love Halloween and Cosplay and drove him crazy with my obsessions.
I lost Marlon to Covid complications on October 8, 2021. He had just turned 58. He was admitted on September 20th. He did not want to go because I think he knew he wouldn’t come home. Katt and I were not able to be with him because of Covid protocols. Since he was on O2, it was a struggle for him to communicate but we were able to video chat and I would take him around the house so he could say goodnight to our cats. We did not believe Covid would be the end, but things went downhill quickly and he was put on a vent on October 8th.
Our daughter said her goodbye over the phone and I made the decision to remove the vent. I watched through an ICU window for 15 minutes while a nurse held his phone and I said goodbye. I told him I would be ok (I lied) and that he could stop fighting.
